Hand Wash Set Ups

Are there any hot tips on hand washing stations?

  • What types of buckets do you prefer?
  • Which is the best hand wash pump?
  • Do you put bleach in your water? How much? How do you store it?
  • Where do you put your hand soap?
  • Anything else?

Etsy has a surprisingly good handwash pump / faucet combo that easily clips onto some stacked buckets and a "shelf" to hold your soap. We usually put like a "capfull" of bleach in the lower bucket, but I did a deep dive on bleach and that capfull is likely not nearly enough to have sanitizing effect. If you have 2 gallons in the lower bucket, you need 2/3 cup of (7.5% sodium hypochlorite) bleach to get to 1,500ppm as per recommended by https://www.clorox.com/learn/bleach-dilution-ratio-chart/ I'm not sure I want to put that much bleach in, but that's what you need to sanitize.

We use the downriver equipment handwash pump, and I like it a lot. I feel like if we put the recommended amount of bleach into the handwash stations, everyone's hands will get destroyed. But if it's the only way to sanitize hands, is that worth it?
