I just re-read John Goidkin’s lightning book, and agree with his premise that no place in the back country is safe from lightning, but there are plenty of places that are riskier. I was wondering what weather protocols outfitters have in play for both on the water and in camp.
I was taught that there is no place safer than a rubber raft at the bottom of a river canyon.
The River Radius Podcast had a great episode on lightning on the river. It’s been a minute since I last listned to it: “The Shocking Details of River Lightning”
